Many of us resist asking for help and feel that we should be able to cope.Human beings of course have a great capacity to work through difficulties but there are times when talking with another person in a safe boundaried relationship offers something different from family and friends.

Person Centred Counselling was founded by Carl Rogers (1902-1987) who was Professor of Psychology at Ohio State University before he began to question the diagnostic method and developed his ultimately widely successful therapeutic approach from 1940 onwards.By 1960 Person Centred therapy was being taught to prospective counsellors in Britain.

Person Centred Counselling means that you can expect your counsellor to be non directive and to offer a safe space to develop a relationship. The Person Centred Approach has been written about and researched over the years but the core conditions offered by all person centred counsellors remain constant - empathy, unconditional positive regard(acceptance) and
congruence(genuineness) underpinned by a basic trust in human beings' desire for growth.

There are many reasons why people seek counselling and it is very common to hesitate for a long time before contacting a counsellor. Counselling is a process entered into voluntarily, which is why it works best when each client chooses the right time for themselves.

Some of the reasons why people choose counselling:-

relationship difficulties
bereavement - recent or in the past
mental health problems - depression,anxiety,bipolar
workplace stress or bullying
abuse - sexual,physical and/or emotional
sexuality and identity issues
alcohol and/or drug addiction
trauma
overwhelming worries

Referral and costs :-

Individual counselling - £40 per hour (I'm willing to negotiate a reduced fee)

Couple counselling - £40 per hour (I'm willing to negotiate the length of couples' sessions, either one and a half or 2 hour sessions)

Counselling supervision - £40 per hour (I'm willing to negotiate a discount for student counsellors)

External supervision for non counselling staff working in various settings - £40 per hour

You are welcome to contact me by phone or email to enquire about counselling or supervision.
Mobile : 0791 805 1065
email : jane.aldous1@btinternet.com

Jane Aldous - counselling, supervision and background.

You may be looking for a counsellor for the first time or considering working with a counsellor after a break?
